In Via di Pietralata, a ridosso del corso dell’Aniene, corre uno dei pochi tratti di Acquedotto Vergine costruito fuori terra il piccolo borgo di Vigna Mangani. La potente infrastruttura, realizzata poco più di 2000 anni fa, è ancora funzionante e porta l’acqua anche alla fontana di Trevi. Il tempo e i numerosi interventi di manutenzione hanno trasformato l’aspetto dell’acquedotto antico fino a farlo sembrare un muro. La visita sarà l’occasione per far conoscere ai cittadini una magnifica infrastruttura e la perizia tecnica affinata da romani nel campo idraulico. Insieme ai referenti della Comunità patrimoniale del quartiere rifletteremo insieme sul paesaggio antico e sulla nascita del quartiere di Vigna Mangani. In Via di Pietralata, close to the course of the Aniene, runs one of the few stretches of the Virgin Aqueduct built above ground, the small village of Vigna Mangani. The powerful infrastructure, built just over 2000 years ago, is still functional and also brings water to the Trevi fountain. Time and numerous maintenance interventions have transformed the appearance of the ancient aqueduct to the point of making it look like a wall. The visit will be an opportunity to introduce citizens to a magnificent infrastructure and the technical expertise refined by Romans in the hydraulic field. Together with the representatives of the patrimonial community of the district we will reflect together on the ancient landscape and on the birth of the Vigna Mangani district.
