On the European Days of Archeology, the Spada Gallery dedicates a guided tour to its archaeological collection, formed over three centuries. Generally overshadowed by the importance and notoriety of the painting collection, the Spada antiquities shows important examples of Imperial Roman sculpture and helps to illustrate the phenomenon of Roman collecting during the 17th Century. On the occasion, it will be possible to meet, as in a portrait gallery, the many faces of classical antiquity now displayed in the rooms adorned with Seventeenth-Century masterpieces collected by Cardinals Bernardino and Fabrizio Spada. The visit ends in the Secret Garden, where architect Francesco Borromini built in 1653 the amazing Perspective Colonnade.
